“Joab was told, ‘The king is weeping and mourning for Absalom …’ Then Joab went into the house to the king and said, ‘Today you …. have made it clear … that the commanders and their men mean nothing to you. Now go out and encourage your men. ‘” 2 Sam 19:1…7
~ Joab is not my go-to guy for much of anything but . . . Sometimes getting out can be the best therapy, rather than staying home, and sitting in the dark and damp of the basement and mourning, mourning, mourning.
You have to disengage sometimes. It actually gives you perspective.
In any event, sometimes you have no choice, and you just need to go against the grain of what you are feeling and get out. When responsibility calls, you have to answer. When the 9-5 calls, you need to answer, emotions notwithstanding.
David is not just king, but he has to act like one. Responsibility called and he had to get up and out.
