“If God be for us, who can be against us.” ~ Rom. 8:31
“The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it” (Prov. 10:22)
God’s blessings are good and perfect (James 1:17). As Proverbs 10:22 reminds us, when the Lord blesses, He adds no trouble to it. His gifts come without a hitch! Yet, living in a fallen world, we often find that when God pours out a blessing in our lives—whether it’s a new job, catching up with an old best friend, or making a new best friend—trouble can quickly follow. Things can just go down. Perhaps the devil launches an attack, or unexpected challenges arise that threaten to steal our joy.
Don’t lose perspective however. Keep at the forefront of your mind that, if God has blessed you in some way, shape or form, then it means that God is for you in that area of your life. Otherwise, why should He bless you in that area? So, if God be for us, who can be against us?
So, if a blessing seems to have some trouble attached, then turn to Him and pray confidently, knowing that God is for you.
Reflection:
~ What are some areas in your life where you’ve seen God’s blessing?
~ Have any of those blessings faced resistance or difficulty?
~ How might you respond differently, knowing that God is for you?
