“A person’s wisdom has made him slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.” ~ Prov. 19:11
The day has begun. Before the end of the day,
- I will get the evil eye from someone while walking down the street.
- The one guy sitting near me on the subway will hurl out a stream of expletives – loud, jarring and unnecessary.
- Someone else will fail to respond to an email that I deem to be urgent.
- Still someone else will say something in the office break room, and I know what they really meant. It is not kind.
- And of course, turning to the news during the lunch hour will only cause my temperature to rise.
- And so on . . .
Point being: In a given day, a thousand offenses will be hurled at you, from out of nowhere. You just simply have to move on, for sanity’s sake. For peace’s sake. Its just not worth it. Pray and move.
My Mantra: 80% of life is water under the bridge. 100% of life is forgiveness . . . if possible.
A fool’s anger is known at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. ~ Prov 12:16
An Aside: It is interesting to note that in the Hebrew Bible, patience and anger are walking partners. Patience is associated with being slow to anger, not simply the ability to wait out a situation and the metaphor behind this is being “long of nose’. An angry person’s nose flares up. But I digress.
